Michael Chessa is a trial attorney who has a wealth of professional experience in both criminal and civil litigation. A former prosecutor, before starting Brown & Chessa LLP, Mr. Chessa worked as a trial attorney for a renown New York City personal injury and medical malpractice firm. In his time as a plaintiff attorney, Mr. Chessa represented victims of accidents, medical malpractice and workplace injuries.
At the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Chessa served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn. During his tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Chessa prosecuted both felonies and misdemeanors, serving as lead counsel in numerous jury and bench trials, indicting hundreds of cases before the Grand Jury, and conducting pretrial hearings.
Prior to law school Mr. Chessa worked as an assistant editor for a best-selling New York Times columnist. A lifelong New Yorker, Mr. Chessa was accepted into the Teaching Fellows program and worked as a middle school teacher in East New York, Brooklyn. Mr. Chessa received his B.A. from the University of Colorado in 2000, and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2010. Mr. Chessa is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Eastern District and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
